Focus on... marigold

I was deadheading some marigolds this morning and I just love the scent of these incredibly versatile, healing flowers.

The marigold, or Calendula to use it's posh name, is a wonderful remedy and is used extensively in homeopathy. In fact, it is arguably our most important remedy for healing open wounds ranging from a simple cut to major injuries.

Calendula not only speeds up healing but can also prevent wounds from become septic. Calendula promotes cellular granulation and in this way ensures rapid healing.

Use Calendula for bites and stings, burns, cuts and injuries, dental work or after surgery. For small injuries use as a cream or dilute the tincture in cooled boiled water and dab on the area. For more serious injuries the remedy can be taken in pill form.
